February is such a magical month. Maybe not as magical as December with all of the Christmas delights, but for us it’s full of hearts and fun and love! Valentine’s is probably the second most decorated holiday in our house, but it’s not something that we spend a ton of money on to support chocolate and card companies. Instead, we go for handmade and personal!

A few years ago, Valentine’s Day landed on a Saturday so we had a pink themed breakfast in addition to our fun decorations!
Check out how to make this awesome heart wreath out of coffee filters!

One year, we added a heart to each girls’ door every morning with something we loved or appreciated about them. Seems simple, but 14 days times three girls added up!

Another year, we used foam hearts and wrote the letters L-O-V-E on them and added three or four characteristics that started with each of the letters for each girl.

These are actually still hanging on our middle daughter’s door frame from three years ago!

This year, we’re going to do a family-based project: paper chain decorating! Each family member will get a separate color chain link and as we think of things we love and appreciate about that person, we will write it on their color and add it to the chain. The goal is to fill up our entire staircase before February 14!

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Is it a one day love fest or do you spread it out?
